Australia

“Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist.” Pablo Picasso   It all started with chicken parmagiana. I mean, what better way to start a six week Edgeventure than a homemade Aussie classic by Melbournes hottest couple. And our hosts for week one, Cat & Rory, were so kind to share more than just their culinary delights; we were welcomed in their home, shared a Christmas barbie with their family, shown the sights and sounds of Melbourne including an incredible rooftop tiki NYE celebration and a house party of epic proportions. Be sure to make it to the end of the video. You will never have heard a rendition of Creep like this before. But it wasn’t just about a week-long Melbourne drinking sesh. A lot of Lonely Planet must-see boxes were ticked off. Without boring you with the full itinerary, our highlights included: Zipping our way through the Mountain Ash and giant ferns in Otways Rainforest A brief encounter with, according to Australian Geographic, Austrialia‘s third most dangerous snake. Cat spotted the mainland tiger snake on the beach by the 12 Apostles and Gibson Steps. Whilst we took a pit stop for […]

Keiji & Miki

So it wasn’t all fun down under, there was also a bit of “work” to do. Totally random but the most enjoyable shoot on the beach with Keiji & Miki. I spotted them taking photo’s of each other on the room balcony and immediately saw an opportunity to add to my portfolio. Cocktail set to one side, I approached and asked (kindly shouted up to them) if they’d be interesting in a mini-shoot. They obliged and we powered through the introductions as it transpired they where about to prep for checkout and catch the next flight home to Japan when I so rudely interrupted them. With the clock ticking, we set our sites on the beach below. Here are the results…

“Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working – Pablo Picasso” Haven’t posted in a while, but I’ve been very active in my quest to be a better photographer. My second 9Dots Gathering is now behind me, and I’m now looking for new challenges. Australia for Christmas will bring some of those, but 2019 will be the year of street. If I’m not next level street by the end of 2019 I’ll have failed. If you follow my FB feed, you’ve likely seen most of these images, but wanted to post them anyway. Framing and composition was on the menu in Portugal. Hope you like.

Danü & Meli Part II

by Rob Edgerley· September 28, 2018· in People· 14 comments
“Before you submit it to your subconscious you have to consciously practice it.” I don’t want to bore you with text, I did that last time. In brief, I shot part deux of Danü and Meli’s wedding in August and I was treated like a king for my services. Danü and Meli, their family and their friends made sure I wanted for nothing. I will be eternally grateful for this amazing opportunity they gifted me. It’s work, without a doubt, but it’s so worth it. Making people smile will always be my motivation in life and through photography, I’ve discovered that it’s somewhat of a short-cut path to achieving this, which is utterly addictive. Anyway, I invite you to take a look at Part II, the final part, of my first ever wedding. I loved it and I hope you do too.

Danü & Meli

“A mind that is stretched by new experiences can never go back to it’s old dimensions.” Oliver Wendell Homes A few weeks a ago I stepped into the unknown and photographed my first wedding. What an experience that was and it isn’t over yet. It was roughly two years ago that a friend of ours approached me and told me (yes, told me) that I was going to photograph his wedding. We were drunk, so we embraced and thought nothing more of it. It wasn’t until some months later that we met again and sure enough he said the same thing, “Rob, you’re going to be our wedding photographer!”. But once again we were drunk, so we embraced and said nothing more about. It wasn’t until earlier this year that we met when we weren’t (that) drunk and we made it official that I would indeed be their wedding photographer. A two part wedding with the first leg in Thun, Switzerland and the second, much larger occasion in Osiek, Croatia this August. Since making it official, I started gathering all the gear I would need, lenses, flashes, you name it, read through all my notes from every workshop I’ve […]

Wedding Album

by Rob Edgerley· April 23, 2018· in People· 12 comments
Yes yes and yes! We decided to finally sort our wedding album out with Rossco and boy are we glad we did. What a beautiful and engaging experience it is looking back at our wedding day like this. I now have a whole new appreciation for print. It’s hard to express the feeling really, other than it’s just truly special. It’s one of those processions you know you and your future generations will cherish dearly. Couldn’t be happier. So happy in fact, I felt the need to document it all. Enjoy! Rossco, thank you so much for making this happen! You’re an absolute gent of gents!
